Watery underglaze runs through and down paths between jagged clay.
Textural experiments using low-fire clay, slips, sodium silicate and underglazes. Glaze experiments and art-play will continue  and then these will become wall sculptures for The Arts of Life 6th Annual Square Foot Show..

Erosion Experiment
I am taking Dave Trost's class "Livin' la Vida Low-Fire" at Lillstreet Art Center and we started using sodium silicate on slabs of clay. Needless to say I am hooked! It gives me the perfect texture to create the layers and effect I am looking for! Dave is such an innovative and inspirational teacher! He knows so much about clay and how it acts. through the entire process. I love that discovering clay is an endless journey that continues to evolve through individual and collaborative ideas!
I have always been interested in natural textures and how they grow and erode over time. What causes the growth? What causes the erosion? How do humans affect nature? How does nature affect structures the people have made? Is our/her/his-story a constant cycle of building up and then scraping off of layers?
