I love the process of play and finding patterns. So many things can happen from starting with the two simple yet complex shapes of a circle and a triangle. Beauty from "simplicity". This piece is still in the begining stages of carving the layers. I work on a couple of pieces at one time so I dont get too attached to the drawing. Each piece needs a little break before I can look at it and approach it with fresh eyes.
I'm excited to be getting back to these wall pieces! I love to draw on clay and get lost in the play of the emerging patterns.! Starting with a triangular grid, I lightly carve out lines and slowly the composition emerges from the top layer of the relief down. In the finish piece, however, the shapes seem to be expanding from out from the center, which is exciting and intruiging to me.. The simplicity of the connectedness of circles and triangles has been swarming around me again lately. I enjoy trusting the process to see what comes out! |
